studied cinema and new technologies at Brown University and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

After co-founding the highly successful NY-based digital design studio DIGITALFORM -- which served many of the most prominent brands in the high-end luxury market (YSL, Versace, Valentino, Bulgari, Cacharel, Dolce&Gabbana, Pucci, Paul Smith, Sisley, Missoni, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood and Oscar de la Renta) -- Mader decided to focus his creative energies towards directing and his original passion: cinema.

Mader’s first narrative film La Maladie de la Mort, based on the homonymous novella by Marguerite Duras and starring Anna Mouglalis, premiered at the Venice Film Festival (2003) to then play in festivals worldwide.

Mader’s first stage direction HEROINE also starring Ms. Mouglalis – a multi-media performance based on the texts of Ovid, Marguerite Yourcenar, and telephone text messages (SMS) was created for and presented at the Festival of Ortigia (2004) in the Castello Maniace of Siracusa, Sicily.

Mader has directed two hour-long films for French TV, one of which stars Lou Doillon and had its premiere at the Festival of Paris-Cinema (2006).

Several of Mader’s large scale video and film installations were commissioned by Lille3000 for the exhibition “Bombay: Maximum City” (2006). In 2008, he exhibited several film portrait installations at Le Laboratoire in Paris, created expressly for a joint show with acclaimed photographer and preeminent photojournalist James Nachtwey (recent winner of the TED Prize and subject of the Academy-nominated documentary “War Photographer”).

His 3-channel choreographic film installation with dancer Sharmila Desai, who comes from a legendary family of dancers and exponents of dance, was presented in NY in summer of 2006. Mader’s “film portraits” include works with writers Suketu Mehta (Pulitzer Prize Nominee) and Pavan Varma, as well as with photographer James Nachtwey and legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Mader’s music video for Coldplay’s single “Violet Hill” from the album "Viva la Vida” was nominated for Best UK Video and Best Special Effects in a Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.
Mader recently completed a dance and film performance piece for Mikhail Baryshnikov in collaboration with choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The piece, entitled “Years Later,” was previewed on April 14, 2009 at the Baryshnikov Arts Center's Spring Gala in New York and premieres in Riga, Latvia on May 2, 2009. Tour dates are scheduled throughout Europe and North America for Summer and Fall 2009.
Mader is currently developing several short format and feature films to be seen in the upcoming year.
